Dominic Chambrone (aka The Shoe Surgeon) has become known for his premium re-creations of some of the best sneakers on the market. He's even crafted a Nike LeBron 15 worth over $100,000. For his latest project, the cobbler has put his spin on Nigel Sylvester's Air Jordan 1 collaboration that released in 2018.
The pair replaces a traditional leather upper with exotic python skin. The nylon tongue, liner, and laces have all also been swapped out in favor of black leather to add to the luxurious vibe. The Shoe Surgeon's logo can be seen emblazoned on a black leather tongue tag in gold. Chambrone stays true to the original collab by including all of its signature hits like a mini Swoosh stitched on the lateral toe, stenciled lateral Swoosh, 3M medial Swoosh, and various distressed details to simulate extensive wear.
"I thought Nigel [Sylvester] had the best Air Jordan 1 of 2018. Just from riding BMX, Nigel has paved his path of opportunity, from creating amazing videos, to getting his own collabs with Nike, to sitting front row at the fashion shows," Chambrone told Sole Collector. "These are my nod to him and all his success. This shoe entails a lot of manual labor, but it's worth every bit."
A limited run of The Shoe Surgeon's "Lux" Nigel Sylvester x Air Jordan 1 will be releasing at theshoesurgeon.com on Feb. 9 for $3,000 each. Only 11 pairs will be available.
