Despite playing for Duke during his collegiate years, Nike athlete Kyrie Irving will see his fifth signature sneaker dressed up in a colorway that pays homage to the University of Connecticut Huskies.
The Nike Kyrie 5 "UConn" PE includes a mostly white upper with the school's other colors, red and blue accenting the look throughout the Swoosh logo as well as in the speckled midsole. Finishing off the exclusive colorway is the school's mascot, Jonathan the Husky, whose logo sits on the heel. The Kyrie 5 isn't the first model to reference the Huskies, with a Kyrie 3 from 2017 paying respects to the women's basketball program.
Although the "Huskies" look won't see the store shelves, fans of the sneaker can scoop the inaugural "Taco" colorway on Nov. 16 followed closely by the "Black Magic" look on Nov. 20. Check out below for more detailed images of the forthcoming sneaker.
