Pete Carroll isn't leaving behind his beloved Nike Air Monarchs anytime soon.
During the Seattle Seahawks coach's appearance this week on 710 ESPN Seattle's Brock and Salk show, Carroll discussed his reasons for the wearing the ultimate dad shoe.
"I'm rocking the Monarchs," Carroll said proudly while explaining his decision not to switch to something more modern. "I gave [newer shoes] a shot–I don't know if you know that–I tried to give it a shot."
Carroll went on to say that he wears quadruple E-width sneakers. Nike doesn't make too many models in that wonky size, so that's probably a contributing factor for his oddball footwear choice.
