Designed by Tony Hardman, the Nike PG3 is designed with NASA-inspired details as a nod to the research center being located in George's hometown of Palmdale, California. Lighter than its predecessor, the PG3 weighs in nearly an ounce less than the PG 2.5. To achieve this, Hardman and the design team stripped away excess TPU, integrated the tongue into the collar, employed a softer, lighter foam in the midsole and utilized a mesh-constructed upper. The traction pattern is shaped to resemble craters in the moon. Free-floating, synthetic “wings” across the forefoot help lock the foot in.
