The Nike Air Zoom Spiridon debuted in 1997 as part of Nike's groundbreaking Zoom-based performance running shoe line. The sneaker gets its name from Spiridon Louis, the winner of the first Olympic marathon that was held in 1896. The sneaker was the first to feature a mesh-based upper as well as podular caged Zoom setup. In addition, the sneaker features Phylon and Duralon. The Spiridon returned remastered in 2017 as the NikeLab Air Zoom Spiridon.
