Bouncing back from the controversial āFreeze Outā Air Jordan 1, Marcus Jordanās Trophy Room returns with its long-awaited follow-up collaboration, a fresh take on the āOlympicā Air Jordan 7.
The Trophy Room 7Ā is a reimagination of Michael Jordanās USA-themed sneakers for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. Red and sail suede panels share the upper, with navy landing on the tongue, laces, and inner bootie. Gold hardware represents the Dream Teamās dominant run to the gold medal and the colors of the Olympic rings are displayed on heel pull-tab.
As usual, Marcus is adding another layer to his project via storytelling. Details on the shoe indicate that this collaboration is tied to the Dream Teamās famous pre-Olympic scrimmage in Monte Carlo, when Jordanās White Team took on Magic Johnsonās Blue Team. As the story is told, Jordan led a late comeback effort to carry his team to victory over Johnson and the blue. His message to Johnson and Larry Bird following the scrimmage? āThereās a new sheriff in town,ā a message that is partially stitched along the back of the tongue. The date of June 22, 1992 is noted along the inner collar and on the box, even though itās long been reported that the scrimmage tookĀ place on July 22, just ahead of the Dream Team beginning Olympic competition.
No other details about the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 7, including a release date, have been announced at this time. Keep an eye out for updates and new images in the months ahead.
