Nike recently unveiled a limited edition colorway of Tiger Woods's signature golf shoe, the TW '13, celebrating this weekend's 2013 Masters tournament. Sole Collector took the new colorway for a test run today, making sure to maintain our rate of play and not commit any obscure rule violations.
Following successful black and white colorways of the TW '13, the "Masters Edition" features an infusion of color, incorporating well-placed strokes of green and gold onto the shoe's ready canvas.
The "Masters Edition" TW '13 utilizes a streamlined white upper, encapsulating a Dynamic Fit support system. Flywire-anchored nylon lace loops run under and around the foot, providing proper lockdown and an adaptive fit, while waterproof synthetic leather keeps the foot insulated from the elements. Subtle TW branding appears on the tongue and heel.
Most notable, of course, is the TW '13's innovative, Nike Free-inspired sole, this time colored in a deep green. Rubber pods and Champ Scorpion Spikes provide necessary traction on the outsole, while strategic flex grooves promote natural motion and flexibility.
"Now my feet are stronger and I feel more athletic," Tiger noted, upon the release of the launch colorway. "These shoes provide freedom of movement and allow me to release more power through my swing." I can't disagree with Tiger -- in many ways, the TW '13 is to traditional golf shoes what the LeBron X is to the Chuck Taylor All Star. You can't help but feel more athletic wearing them.
While Tiger opted for the more understated black and white colorways during the 2013 tournament, the "Masters Edition" TW '13 makes for a great collectors item, marking one the of the more memorable (and controversial) Masters tournaments in recent memory. While the colorway is now sold out on Nike.com, limited quantities are still available at select accounts. Check with your local Nike Golf retailer for availability.
