After a record-setting four-year career at the University of Maryland, Greivis Vásquez became the first Venezuelan-born player drafted in league history when he was chosen in the first round by the Memphis Grizzlies. There's a good chance we'll never see an entrance more awesome than his journey to the stage to hug David Stern at the 2010 NBA Draft.

His path from Venezuela to the NBA brought him to the Maryland area as a teenager, where he spent his high school days alongside Kevin Durant at Montrose Christian Academy. After his memorable Terrapin career, it only seemed natural for Greivis to join the promising Baltimore-based team at Under Armour Basketball once he turned pro.

General Greivis will embark on his sophomore campaign this season wearing the Under Armour Micro G Juke, featuring full-length Micro G cushioning, a lightweight synthetic hot-melted upper and an all-new CompFit ankle sleeve. His size 13 player edition model features Memphis blue and gold accents, in addition to Vásquez's "GV" logo at the heel.

Vásquez tallied a solid 7 points and 6 assists in 9 minutes in Memphis' first pre-season game Friday night, continuing to build his reputation as an offensive spark off of the bench. With almost all of their major weapons back, will Greivis and the Grizzlies make another strong playoff push in 2012?
