Following Tiger's thrilling victory at the Players Championship last weekend, Nike officially unveiled the new TW '14 golf shoe today, the latest Nike Free-inspired signature model designed specifically for the world's number one ranked golfer.
Building on the success of the TW '13, the TW '14 features enhanced fit, feel and function. The shoe's upper utilizes a new mesh tongue and strategic perforations for improved breathability, while a new Dynamic Flywire system helps stabilize the foot all the way through the swing. As introduced with the TW '13 model, a natural motion engineered outsole conforms to the innate movements of the foot, providing flexibility and allowing for longer contact with the ground during the swing (improving kinetic chain energy transfer).
“With this shoe, we worked diligently to take every detail to a new level,” said Tobie Hatfield, Athlete Projects Innovator in Nike’s Innovation Kitchen. “Tiger’s relentless focus on getting better makes us better. His insights force us to never stop innovating and delivering technology that will enhance a golfer’s performance. In the TW ’14, he wanted more stability with mobility. We've accomplished that by using Nike's Dynamic Flywire technology, which moves with him but stabilizes his foot when he swings. We also increased breathability of the shoe by using a full mesh tongue."
The TW '14 will release in Tiger's traditional Black / Reflective Silver / Varsity Red colorway on June 7, followed by a special edition Cool Grey / Black / Vivid Blue / Venom Green colorway on August 1.
The shoe will also be available on NIKEiD for the first time, complete with customizable colors and materials. The TW '14 iD will release on June 7.
