More than a quarter century of innovation has been worked into Nike Training’s latest offering, the Zoom Hypercross.
The trainer utilizes Nike’s new hexagonal Zoom Air cushioning system, which delivers a fast and responsive feel, while keeping athletes lower to the ground for a stable experience. With the new cushioning, designers were able to use pressure mapping and sport-specific testing data to place Zoom in the forefoot — where it’s needed most.
"Training athletes who are Zoom fans and go all out should rejoice," said Nathan VanHook, Nike's Footwear Design Director for Athletic Training. "The Zoom Hypercross Trainer uses our latest cushioning innovation — hexagonal Nike Zoom Air — to save weight and gain flexibility and, perhaps most importantly, allow us to place that snappy Zoom Air feel into the forefoot where athletes need it most."
A lightweight Engineered Mesh upper is lined with a soft, pliable foam for a secure fit. Synthetic overlays provide structure and Dynamic Flywire cables wrap the forefoot for lockdown and support. Below, a full rubber outsole provides aggressive traction on multiple indoor and outdoor surfaces, while outriggers enhance stability for quick pivots and changes in direction.
"What Zoom Air brings athletes, besides that super-responsive cushioned feel, is zero energy loss. That's critical to ensure all their effort is directed into the training activity," continued VanHook. "With hexagonal Nike Zoom Air, we have been able to make a really lightweight training shoe that has great Zoom responsiveness in the forefoot with a level of flexibility that we just haven't seen before."
The Hypercross launches in ‘Volt’ on Friday October 10 at nike.com and select retail locations.
