It wasn't exactly shocking news, but yesterday, the Lakers made it official: Kobe Bryant will sit out the remainder of the 2013-14 NBA season, having played only six games.

You may remember Bryant's brief return, seemingly coordinated with the launch of his 9th Nike signature shoe. Ironically, much like MJ, Kobe won't be wearing that 9th signature shoe on-court. Do you think he stole that move from MJ too?

The injury cost the Lakers $28 million this season, but it's the two-year, $48.5 million extention, which kicks in next season, that could prove to be the most costly aspect of the injury. Do you think Kobe will be able to at a level worth that contract, following a second injury? Let us know in the comments.
