This Friday, the newest Spike Lee joint Red Hook Summer will premiere at select theaters in New York City before a wider release later this month. To celebrate Spike's newest project, sneaker customizer Van Monroe worked on a special "Red Hook Summer" version of the Jordan Son of Mars, which of course has ties to the legendary director.
Monroe, mostly known for his President Obama custom Air Force 1, drew inspiration directly from the film's official poster and artwork. The shoe sports a black and red upper with bright blue highlights on the Jumpman branding, inner lining and "teeth" along the midsole. Added to the heel in white is the logo of 40 Acres and a Mule, Spike's production company. As a bonus, Van created a custom Red Hook Summer hang tag.
