Before lacing up the Air Jordan 1, Michael Jordan spent part of his rookie season playing in Nike's Air Ship. In fact, our own MJO23DAN published a story last week about the model being the shoe that was originally banned by the NBA. The Air Jordan line will turn 30 next year, and since its introduction, Nike has rarely (if ever) acknowledged the Air Ship being Jordan's first pro shoe publicly. That changes today.

In a tweet sent out earlier this morning, @Jumpman23 shared a photo of Jordan playing in the White/Red Air Ship, adding the caption, "One small step for MJ. One giant leap for the game."

The photo was tweeted in celebration of today being the 30th anniversary of Jordan's NBA debut, but could it also be a sign that a retro is in the works? We can't confirm that news at the moment, but next year would be the perfect time to reintroduce the original MJ game shoe. Perhaps in a pack with the Air Jordan 1? Guess we'll have to wait and see.
