Jeremy Guthrie Announced His Retirement From Sneakers

by Brandon Richard

Sole Collector first reported on Jeremy Guthrie in 2011, when he was a pitcher in the Baltimore Orioles' rotation. He caught the sneaker community's attention with his sneaker vault, custom built at his Utah home. Since then, he's proven to be Major League Baseball's top sneakerhead, putting together a one-of-a-kind collection of Player Exclusives, vintage sneakers and today's rarest releases. But all good things come to an end, and it looks like Guthrie is prepared to move on.

Today, the World Series starter formally announced his retirement from sneakers during a mock press conference, saying that he has nothing left to prove. He even mixed in elements from Michael Jordan's 1993 retirement presser, down to the tan suit.

Guthrie did, however, leave the door open for a return, so perhaps this isn't the last we've seen of him.

Happy trails, Jeremy.
