Sneaker Twitter is currently buzzing about Gokul Venkatachalam, a 14-year old who was just crowned co-champion of the 2015 Scripps National Spelling Bee. In addition to his confident approach to spelling some of the world's most difficult words, Gokul is a sneakerhead — he's competing in the 'Legend Blue' Air Jordan 11.
After a quick Google search, it appears that this isn't a one-off. The young speller has competed at several events wearing Nikes and Air Jordans. Here's some his heat from the past:
