With Week 1 of the 2011 NFL schedule landing on the 10th Anniversary of September 11th, footwear and apparel brands issued special commemorative USA-themed gear to be worn on the field by their endorsed players. For Under Armour, a variety of cleats were designed with New York City Fire Department and New York City Police Department graphics to honor military and first response heroes who protect our freedom every day. After all Week 1 games were played, each athlete signed his special cleats and returned them to Under Armour so that they could auctioned off for charity. Now, you have the opportunity to own a pair worn by some of the league's top players.
The UA 9/11 cleats are currently available via auction at eBay. Pairs are signed by NFL stars like Tom Brady, Cam Newton, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Anquan Boldin, Miles Austin and Julio Jones. Prices start at $250 and auctions run until Sunday, October 23. All proceeds of the auctions will go directly to the Wounded Warrior Project, the New York City Police Foundation, and the FDNY Foundation.
