Minnesota’s young star Andrew Wiggins is getting some new sneakers for 2016 as adidas has officially unveiled three PE colorways of its new Crazlight Boost 2.5.

Each colorway has a nickname and a backstory explaining its inspiration. Leading off, the “Marita,” the red and silver offering, is the first shoe Wiggins has dedicated to his mother, Marita Payne-Wiggins. A former world class runner, the inspiration is drawn from Payne-Wiggins’ successes at the 1984 Olympic Summer Games in which she helped lead Canada to silver medals in both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays.

The “North Star” takes its name from Minnesota’s state motto, The Star of the North, and is done up in the Timberwolves’ team colors of black and blue with silver detailing. Decked out in a blue/black upper, the shoe is accented with metallic heel counter and dotted with silver accents.

The last of the set is the “Home Away From Home” which commemorates Wiggins’ journey from Canada to the NBA. Maple leaves decorate the sole unit as a nod to his home country and the colors of green and blue call attention to the T'Wolves.

As far as technology, each shoe features both Primeknit uppers and Boost cushioning. The collection hits stores beginning today with the release of the “Marita”  followed by the release of the “North Star” and “Home Away From Home” beginning in February. Each model will retail price at $125.
