While Spike Lee's latest sneaker, the Jordan Spike 40, wasn't designed by Tinker Hatfield, it is based on a sketch from his vault.
The shoe combines elements from the lost Hatfield drawing with cues from the 1990's Air Jordan 5 and will start off with a couple of New York Knicks colorways, which have become a requisite for any Spike Lee footwear. The year 1990 is significant here because it's the one in which Lee signed a phony contract with the Knicks.
The Jordan Spike 40 is available today in the orange/blue Knicks colorway. The blue/orange launches on Nov. 4, followed by the white/red on Nov. 18 and the black/red on Dec. 16.
