Above all, the Air Jordan 12 is known as championship shoe number five. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the 12 was inspired by Japan and its Rising Sun flag, as well as women’s fashion. It’s most memorable moment on the court took place almost 18 years ago, when Michael Jordan dropped 38 points on the Utah Jazz in what has become known as the “Flu Game.”

Surprisingly (and fortunately), the Air Jordan 12 is a model that Jordan Brand hasn’t overdone. Since launching in 1996, the 12 has only been released in 18 different high and low-top colorways. But there are a good amount of samples that never quite made it to production, 13 of which are listed below.
