Known for taking outlandish approaches to collaborations, ACRONYM will soon return with another Nike project, this time tackling the timeless Blazer Low.

Previewed by label co-founder Errolson Hugh, the ACRONYM x Nike Blazer Low is a complete disruption of the original. Features include a pre-distressed black canvas upper and an exaggerated heel counter that is literally locked in with screws.

Earlier this year, Py Leaks first reported the ACRONYM Blazer Lows, with an expected Fall 2021 launch for $120 a pair. A second version in “Night Maroon” is also expected to release. As of now, official details have not yet been announced by Nike or ACRONYM.

UPDATE (01/31): Acronym’s upcoming Nike Blazer Low collaboration has been teased for quite some time (including by Acronym’s own Errolson Hugh), and now the sneaker is finally set to release.

Along with the ghillie suit-like treatment given to the Blazer Low, Hugh’s Acronym label will collaborate with Nike on apparel for the first time. Although this isn’t his first time designing Nike apparel (he was the brand’s ACG designer from 2014 to 2018), this marks the first time Acronym has released co-branded apparel with the Swoosh.

The apparel collection includes two colorways each in woven track jackets and pants, Therma-Fit track jackets and pants, and Stadium Jerseys comprising 100-percent recycled material. The track suits borrow the Blazer Low’s ghillie-inspired look, while the woven jackets represent Hugh’s design language through a zipper that converts into a carrying strap.

As for the Blazer Low, in addition to the camouflage-inspired ghillie cut-outs, it features a removable TPU heel clip, which Hugh has previously said was chosen for ease of entry. The concept is similar to Nike’s Flyease designs.

The 2022 Acronym x Nike collection drops next week on Feb. 9 exclusively from acrnm.com followed by a Feb. 10 launch on SNKRS and at select Nike retailers.
