The collab originally released back in 2006 to celebrate the opening of China’s first sneaker boutique ACU, which was created in conjunction with Clot. The runner incorporated inspirations from both brands and is specifically reflected by “Chi,” which is a spiritual energy that flows through the human body and connecting it with the universe.
The shoe’s standout feature is its translucent toe box, which displays the insoles that show the pressure points of the foot. Additional details include faux snakeskin Swoosh branding and ostrich-inspired collar. Brand new pairs from ‘06 are currently averaging over $1,300 on the secondary market.
As of now, Clot and Nike have yet to confirm that the “Kiss of Death” Air Max 1 is returning in 2021.
UPDATE (02/03): With the Clot x Nike Air Max 1 “Kiss of Death” release date still unconfirmed, a first look at the 2021 retro has surfaced thanks to DJ Khaled. Based on the note was sent with Khaled’s pair, it sounds like this collaboration could be pegged for an Air Max Day 2021 launch. Check back for updates in the coming weeks.

UPDATE (02/17): Clot has announced that the updated “Kiss of Death” Air Max 1 is releasing as part of this year’s Air Max Day celebration. This version of the runner retain’s the original’s general identity, with a few notable changes such as a perforated toe, reflective heel tab and new graphics for the insole and outsole. Clot also enlisted 4PK’s Chef in the campaign to further highlight the sneaker’s Chinese traditional medicine inspirations. The shoe will release February 27 at JUICE locations worldwide, as well as special pop-up activations in Hong Kong (Fashion Walk), Shanghai (JUICE Julu Rd.), Taipei (JUICE Taipei), Taichung (JUICE Taichung), Guangzhou (Taikoo Hui), Shenzhen (MIxC World) and Chengdu (IFS). Additionally, it will be available on line via the JUICE app and JUICE Online Mini Program. U.S. release information will be announced shortly on @juicestoreusa social media accounts.
