New Balance has announced today that it is donating over $1 million worth of footwear to the frontline health workers working tirelessly in the fight against the coronavirus outbreak.
To make this possible, it is teaming up with its sponsored athletes from various sports including Milos Raonic, Sydney McLaughlin, Dejounte Murray, Rose Lavelle, Rob Pannell, Trayvon Bromell, Joey Gallo, and Zdeno Chara. The donation will help provide more than 13,000 pairs to the healthcare community during this pandemic but the specific sneakers that will be distributed weren't disclosed.
"New Balance and our athletes are proud and humbled to be able to show our immense appreciation to those sacrificing so much right now during the COVID-19 crisis," says Chris Davis, Vice President of Global Marketing for New Balance. "We are thankful to provide footwear to medical institutions in our communities and to help keep those working on the front lines comfortable."
In addition to this latest announcement, New Balance is currently producing more than 100,000 face masks per week by utilizing its two factories in both Lawrence, Massachusetts, and Norridgewock, Maine.
