In November, free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick held a private workout in Atlanta, showcasing what attendees described as NFL-caliber ability in front of scouts sent in by a handful of franchises. Kaepernick, 32, last played in 2016 and has essentially been blackballed from the league after making headlines for kneeling during pre-game playings of the national anthem in protest to police brutality.
Before taking the field for his workout in Nike Vapor Untouchable Pro cleats, Kaepernick arrived in a mysterious pair of Air Force 1 Lows, styled in black and white, with a gradient-faded Swoosh and icy translucent sole. We're told that the shoes are an upcoming Kaepernick collaboration that feature several Kap-inspired personal details. Fellow NFL player and friend Eric Reid also wore a pair to the workout.
Kaepernick was famously reintroduced as a Nike pitchman in Sept. 2018, when the brand unveiled him as the face of its 'Just Do It' campaign. While not officially announced, a source tells us that Kaepernick's Air Force 1 Low will likely release sometime in December. We'll keep you posted with new information as it becomes available.

UPDATE (12/15): New photos of Kaepernick's upcoming Air Force 1 collab reveal interesting details—most notably that the date of his first kneeling in protest of police brutality, August 14, 2016, is visible on the outsole of the right shoe. Additionally, the shoe's gradient look is borrowed from the pattern that adorned Kaepernick's preferred cleats, the Nike Vapor Untouchable Pro, which we wore during that season. As of now, the release date is tentatively set for Dec. 28.
UPDATE (12/21): Nike has officially announced Colin Kaepernick's "True To 7" Air Force 1 Low, which will release in North America in adult, toddler and little kid sizes on Monday, Dec. 23 at select Nike retailers and through SNKRS. Global launches will follow.
