In July 2018, LeBron James opened the doors of the I Promise School in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. Offering grade 1-8 education for the area's at-risk youth, the school boasts a massive wall with 114 of James' game-worn sneakers. While those pairs are for display purposes only, students at the school were treated to another kind of sneaker surprise this morning.
According to a Facebook post from the LeBron James Family Foundation, middle and high school students at the I Promise School were treated to fresh pairs of LeBron 16s upon arrival. More than 800 pairs were up for grabs spanning 10 different colorways including the "Remix," "Harlem Stage," "Four Horsemen," "Medicine Ball," and "MPLS."
In related news, a handful of the game-worn shoes used in the school's display are still available for purchase via Upper Deck.
