Jordan Brand is revisiting its popular "Shattered Backboard" theme for 2019. According to @soleheatonfeet on Twitter, a third edition of the Air Jordan 1 colorway is slated for Fall/Winter of next year.
No official images have surfaced of the pair up to this point, but a rendering provided by @houseofheat on Instagram shows that fans can anticipate a "Bred"-esque color blocking. A black leather upper will be accented with orange hits on the toe box, heel, Swoosh, and "Nike Air" logo on the tongue. It will sit atop a cream-colored midsole and orange outsole.
The "Shattered Backboard" color scheme originates from Michael Jordan shattering the backboard with a dunk during a 1985 Nike exhibition game in Italy. His jerseys matched the colors used on the shoe.
UPDATE (04/07): According to @zsneakerheadz on Instagram, the upcoming "Shattered Backboard 3.0" Air Jordan 1 is expected to release on Oct. 26, for a retail price of $160. The upcoming release was rumored to feature a patent leather upper but that detail has yet to be confirmed by Jordan Brand.
UPDATE (06/04): After some initial teasers earlier this year, images have finally surfaced of the "Shattered Backboard 3.0" Air Jordan 1, courtesy of @kuenjames on Instagram. This iteration of the popular color scheme appears to be dressed in crinkled patent leather, a rather unconventional choice that is rarely featured on sneakers. The glossy material covers the entirety of the upper. This colorway is still expected to release on Oct. 26 for $160, but the rumored date has yet to be made official by Jordan Brand.
