The Shox era of Nike running is a very polarizing time period. Some look at Shox technology as the brand's defining innovation of the early 2000s. Others see Shox models as nothing more than an "uncool" novelty. Regardless, Nike seems to be looking back at the era quite fondly in 2019 with the return of various models implementing the bouncy tech. One of the latest pairs to surface is a special colorway of the Shox R4 for soccer superstar Neymar.
This pair was initially debuted on Instagram by Neymar this past April. More recently, Drake was spotted rocking the pair as well. It sports a colorful mix of red, orange, yellow, and green accented by black overlays. It also slightly tweaks the design by replacing the large Swoosh found on the side panel of the original with a mini Swoosh by the toe. The Shox logo found on the tongue has also been flipped to look like an "N" as a nod to the Paris Saint-Germain forward. Red Shox pillars under the heel complete the design.
There is currently no word on an official release for Neymar's Shox R4, but stay tuned as more details become available. In the mean time, check out a closer look at the vibrant pair, courtesy of @gc911 on Instagram.
UPDATE (05/21): Nike has officially unveiled two colorways of the Shox R4 for Brazilian soccer star Neymar. Alongside the watermelon-inspired option that has previously surfaced, there will also be a much more subtle white and silver take on the 2000 runner with numerous Swooshes stitched across each side panel dropping as well. Each pair features special Neymar branding on the tongue.
Look for each of Neymar's Nike Shox R4s to release via nike.com and other select retailers on May 30. Check out a closer look below.
