Throughout the years, Nike has celebrated Puerto Rico's culture with special makeups of its classic silhouettes. After the cancellation of the controversial "Puerto Rico" Nike Air Force 1, the latest sneaker to celebrate Puerto Rico will be the classic Air Max 1.
Just in time for the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade taking place in New York City on June 9, the Puerto Rico-themed kicks will feature a mismatched design on the mudguard, Swoosh, and insole. The shoe's standout detail is the embroidered Puerto Rican flags on the heel along with “PR” branding on the tongue tab and “Pa’lante Mi Gente” is printed on the inner tongue. The Nike Air Max 1 "Puerto Rico" will be available tomorrow via the SNKRS app and at select Nike retailers for $140.
