In Nov. 2017, Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo's announced his long-term deal with Nike, which will reportedly include a signature sneaker with the Swoosh. Following months of speculation, it looks like the basketball model may be finally releasing this summer.
According to @djfolk on Twitter, Antetokounmpo's first signature sneaker is rumored to be called the Nike Freak 1. The shoe is rumored to debut in a black and white color in June/July, with a red and white scheme following in August. Official images have yet to surface.
UPDATE (03/21): During Nike's Q3 earnings call for fiscal year 2019, CEO Mark Parker announced that Giannis Antetokounmpo's anticipated debut signature model, reportedly named the Freak 1, will be releasing in the coming months during the 2019 NBA Playoffs.
"Building on the energy of the NBA Playoffs, Giannis [Antetokounmpo] will cap off his incredible season with the reveal of his first signature shoe," Parker said.
UPDATE (04/29): Giannis Antetokounmpo is currently leading the Milwaukee Bucks on their way to a potential NBA Finals appearance, but some might notice he is still not lacing up his rumored Nike signature model, the Zoom Freak 1. Thanks to the Sole Brothers on Instagram, there is a new look at an upcoming colorway of the Greek Freak's first signature sneaker.
The pair sports an orange mesh upper with navy blue accents, blue-to-yellow gradient midsole, and a red translucent outsole. Its standout feature is the large reverse Swoosh donning each side panel. While an official release date still has yet to be announced, Nike CEO Mark Parker has teased that the Zoom Freak 1 can be expected to make its on-court debut at some point during the 2019 NBA Playoffs.
