Foot Locker has announced the latest installment to its POP series of collaborations, a Puma GV Special inspired by AMC's hit series, The Walking Dead.
The pair is designed by frequent Foot Locker collaborator and artist Alexander-John. The sneaker customizer has transformed the retro GV Special model to better suit the zombie-filled, post-apocalyptic world of the cult favorite program. More specifically, the low-top is inspired by The Whisperers group from its ninth season.
"When I got the call about the project I knew the storyline of the Whisperers was going to play a very important role in how I brought this shoe to life. I love the simplicity of the concept and how the Whisperers hide in plain sight," Alexander-John said in an official press release. "I’ve done many product collaborations with Foot Locker over the years and this one is right up there with my all-time favorites. I hope these PUMA shoes take the show’s fans even deeper into the world of The Walking Dead.”
A white leather upper has been given a pre-distressed look with hand-painted dirt marks. A brown leather strap has been added to the tongue. The same leather is used on the heel tab as well. Each is marked with an "X." Additional details include leather rope laces, a yellow formstripe streaking across each side panel, and a sublimated image of the Whisperer's leader, Alpha, printed on each insole. This limited edition collab will come complete with special packaging donning Alpha imagery as well.
The Walking Dead fans will be able to get their hands on this exclusive Puma GV Special when it releases on March 25 via footlocker.com, the Foot Locker Time Square POP shop, and select Puma Lab locations for $200.
