Nike has revealed its 2019 Free Running collection: the Free RN Flyknit 3.0 and Free RN 5.0.

Each model aims to optimize the original purpose of Nike's Free technology when it was first introduced in 2004: a more natural running experience. The new midsole design used on both silhouettes features siping on the top and bottom to increase dorsi and planter flex movement. Positioning of the siping is mapped to match the anatomy of the foot. Each midsole is also lower to the ground than past models for a more natural, barefoot feel while running. According to Nike, the Free RN Flyknit 3.0 is 37-percent more flexible than its predecessor, while the Free RN 5.0 offers 26-percent more flexibility.

Cosmetically, the uppers of each runner have also undergone an overhaul. The laceless Free RN Flyknit 3.0 utilizes a neoprene overlay for lockdown. The Free RN 5.0 opts for a mesh upper, suede overlays, and an asymmetrical lacing setup. The rounded midsole design is heightened at the heel area. Small Swooshes can be seen stamped on the toe, side panels, and tongue as a nod to low-mileage intent of each silhouette.

The 2019 Nike Free Running collection will be available exclusively to Nike Plus members on March 20 before arriving at retailers on April 4. The Free RN Flyknit 3.0 will be priced at $130, while the Free RN 5.0 will be $100. Check out images of each runner below.
