Converse is celebrating the NBA All-Star weekend festivities in Charlotte this year with two special edition collaborations on 1988's ERX 260. For this release, past collaborator Don C and TheSoloist's Takahiro Miyashita-san will both offer their own unique takes on the recently-revived retro silhouette.
Don C's mid-top design takes direct inspiration from Charlotte's NBA franchise, the Hornets. A white leather upper is accented by teal and purple hits throughout. Iridescent paneling can be seen on the ankle collar and heel that give a unique touch to the colorway. Final touches include a Chevron logo remixed with a jewel star on each side panel and large "Cons" branding on the tongue and lateral ankle.
Miyashita-san was inspired by two American subcultures for his iteration: rock music and basketball. The high-top pair features an all-black leather and suede upper. A removable zipper guard covers the laces and the pair sits atop a translucent outsole that acts as a window to a graphic reading, "Hello, Hello, Hello, I am the Soloist." "I am the Soloist" has also been stitched onto the tongue in white for some subtle contrast.
Both Converse ERX 260 collaborations will be available beginning on Saturday, Feb. 16 in Charlotte. Don C's creation will be sold via Nike SNKRS, House of Hoops, and MINT for $110. Miyashita-san's pair will be exclusively released at Social Status for $150. Take a closer look at both pairs below.
