StockX introduced a brand new delivery service in its home city of Detroit to celebrate the holiday season. The popular online sneaker marketplace shipped customers their sneakers via automated drones.

Four customers in the Motor City were treated to StockX's futuristic drone delivery, including Jamie Mathis. According to an official press release, she has worked at Bethune Elementary Middle School in Detroit for the past two years as a part of City Year Detroit, and is being honored for her service within the local community. The drones being used are powered by Workhorse, one of the only companies FAA-certified for drone delivery.

There is not plans for the company to use the drone delivery option on a larger scale at this time. "This is a part of a broader exploration into drone delivery, but there are no immediate plans to roll it out at scale," StockX told Sole Collector.

The aforementioned deliveries went out on Thursday, Dec. 20, just in time for Christmas.
