As Nike continues to slowly introduce Zoom LeBron 3 retros, traces of the mid-2000s sneaker are also popping up on King James' latest model.
Images surfaced today of a LeBron 16 which adopts portions of the "Superman" LeBron 3 PE from 2005. Known as the LeBron 16 SB, the shoe combines a white Battleknit upper with the LeBron 3's royal blue overlays, which appear here in patent leather. There's also hits of yellow and red to complete the "Superman" theme.
Never released at retail, a new version of the "Superman" LeBron 3 was spotted on James himself back in 2016, which means a proper retro drop could be in the works, although nothing has been confirmed yet.
It remains to be seen if this LeBron 16 will be part of a revived #LeBronWatch series or a new line, but it looks like this pair could make its way to U.S. stores soon as it's already begun popping up overseas.
UPDATE (12/18): New images of the "SuperBron" LeBron 16 have surfaced. This pair is rumored to be the first colorway releasing as a part of the second annual LeBron Watch that kicks off on Christmas Day. It is inspired by the "Superman" LeBron 3 PE from 2005.
UPDATE (12/25): Nike will officially kick off Year 2 of #LeBronWatch on Christmas Day as LeBron James hits the court rocking the Nike LeBron 16 SB "SuperBron." The pair will drop via a draw on the SNKRS app, which will be open for 23 minutes after the Lakers tip-off tonight. Additional pairs will release through House of Hoops online, in-store and through its mobile truck activation in LA tomorrow for $200.
