When the Nike Air VaporMax debuted in 2017 to help celebrate Air Max Day it was seen as a futuristic step for the brand's running division, thanks to the introduction of its new VaporMax midsole. Two years later, Nike has made a handful of updates to the low-top silhouette for its 2019 rendition.

The upper is now constructed using Nexkin, a lightweight translucent fabric that provides more durability and protection from the elements than the Flyknit used in the past. An inner cage and larger TPU heel clip have also been added to provide more support. The only component that hasn't undergone an overhaul is the segmented, full-length Air unit.

Some cosmetic changes have been made to the Air VaporMax 2019 as well. A TPU coating has been added to the Air bag to give it a color-shifting look. Swooshes on each mid panel, taped seams across the upper, a new tongue tag, VaporMax branding wrapping the heel, and a heel pull tab are also worth noting.

A black-based men's colorway and white-based women's pair of the Nike Air VaporMax 2019 with gold accents will help ring in the new year when they release via Nike SNKRS and other select retailers on Jan. 10 for $190.
