This Air Max 98 Looks Like a Supreme Collab

A brand new colorway of the Nike Air Max 98 has surfaced in white and University Red. The pair bears a slight resemblance to Supreme's collaboration from 2016.

Back in 2016, Supreme released a four-shoe collaboration with Nike showcasing the Air Max 98. The model is seen fairly consistently now with Nike celebrating the runner's 20th anniversary throughout 2018, but at the time, the Supreme collab was one of the few instances of the shoe getting a retro treatment. For anyone who missed out on Supreme's red Air Max 98 when it first released (now going for as much as $500 on the resell market), Nike is dropping a similar pair to fill the void.

This colorway sports a white mesh upper, red leather side panel, red suede wrapping the mud guard, reflective piping, and tonal branding. Aside from the obvious absence of Supreme branding, this pair also swaps out grey mesh for white and its red sections are not composed of patent leather like the creation from the New York-based streetwear brand. Despite the subtle differences, it is still a solid alternative for anyone trying to keep a little more money in their bank account, but have the same look.

Some might also liken this "University Red" colorway of the 1998 runner to the OG Air Max 1 given its identical color scheme and suede wrapping the mud guard.

Anyone looking to grab a pair of the "University Red" Air Max 98 will get the chance in the near future when the pair hits nike.com and other select retailers for the usual retail price of $160.
