The community has lost a pioneer of modern sneaker culture with the passing of longtime Nike employee Sandy Bodecker.

Having worked with Nike since 1982, Bodecker had his hands in countless major projects with the Swoosh. Some of his biggest accomplishments include bringing the Nike SB label to prominence trough its tweaked version of the Dunk, spearheading a number of the brand's most sought-after SB collaborations, and most recently, helping lead Nike's Breaking2 marathon initiative.

Last serving as the brand's VP of special projects, Bodecker's passing was confirmed by several industry sources, many of whom paid tribute to him on social media.
