Kendrick Lamar and Nike are linking up for another take on the Nike Cortez. According to @py_rates, the latest project between the rapper and the Swoosh will be a new variation on the model.Â
Simply named the Cortez Basic Slip, the pair opts for a slip-on styling in place of the lacing system usually seen on the low-top. The mock-up provided by the leaker account on Twitter also indicates that a toggle system has been added to the heel.
The color scheme appears to stray away from the black and red palette that has been used across Lamar's first three Cortez projects. Instead, it will reportedly feature a traditional white leather upper, grey suede overlays, Thunder Blue on the Swoosh and heel, and Turf Orange on the tongue, toggle, and midsole.Â
While official images have yet to surface, it also looks like the new collab will abandon any ties to his 2017 album Damn. and Kung-Fu Kenny persona this time around as well. Expect the Kendrick Lamar x Nike Cortez Basic Slip to retail for $100.
UPDATE (10/09):Â According to @j23app, the Kendrick Lamar x Nike Cortez Basic Slip will now be released on Sunday, Oct. 14.
