With today's release of the latest legacy model, Jordan Brand has returned to its roots of innovation by introducing the first laceless game shoe in the company’s history. Designed by Jordan senior footwear designer Tate Kuebris with oversight from vice president of design David Creech, the Air Jordan 33 takes inspiration from the exposed technology used on NASA’s spacesuits.

The concept of revealing the inner workings of the shoe’s tech led the designers to land on FastFit, a first-of-its-kind system which allows for a manually customizable fit. Often in footwear design, tech components are hidden to allow for a more traditional look, but designers were determined to defy convention—even if it presented a challenge. “I probably saw Michael more than any other game shoe just because it was such a new technology and [with] no laces, getting the fit just right,” Kuebris said.
