This Saturday, Jordan Brand will pay tribute to Chris Paul's high school days with a new Air Jordan 12 "Class of 2003" colorway. But from the looks of things, one Champs Sports location in Clearwater, Florida is going to be several pairs short of its allocation come release day.

A Facebook post from the Clearwater Police Department describes a brazen theft in which two men rummaged through the back stock with just one pair in mind.

According to police, the men had their sights set on an Air Jordan Retro 12 priced around $200. While a specific colorway wasn't named, it's unlikely that the "Michigan" Jordan 12 would still be available, and the only other recent drop would be the grade school "Light Aqua" make up, which is priced considerably lower at $140. All this considered, it's safe to say the bandits were hoping to snag pairs of the CP3-inspired style, which retails for $190, ahead of its street date.

Police say the suspects made away with "several thousand dollars" worth of the shoes, although an exact amount was not provided.
