Earlier this summer, Nike made a veiled reference to the East Coast/West Coast hip-hop rivalry of the '90s, and now there's a new Air Max 95 on the way which doesn't hold back its bicoastal inspiration.
Reminiscent of 2015's mismatched "Greedy" colorway, this upcoming premium rendition uses a black base of leather, mesh, and suede with hits of color coming through the tongue logo, eyelets, and shoelaces.
Lakers-inspired shades of purple and gold fill in the eyelets on the right shoe and logo of the left, while the Knicks' orange and blue covers the opposite sides. Mismatched Air bubbles add to the look, and a set of five shoelaces provides plenty of avenues for customization.
This pair does not yet have a confirmed release date, but don't be surprised if it arrives sometime around the start of the NBA season.
UPDATE (11/14): After initially believed to be releasing earlier this year, the "NYC Editions" Air Max 95 is dropping this week. The colorway is part of Nike's new "NYC Editions" program and is designed by "Mo Bamba" rapper Sheck Wes. The colors symbolize his bi-coastal lifestyle in New York and Los Angeles being brought together by his love for the sport of basketball. Look for this Air Max 95 to hit Nike SNKRS and other select retailers on Friday, Nov. 16 for $170.
