Dr. Woo's Latest Converse Collab Gets Better With Age

Los Angeles-based tattoo artist Dr. Woo has collaborated with Converse on four new pairs of the Chuck 70. Black and white adult pairs reveal a second layer over time when worn, while two youth options are covered in colorful, hand-drawn patterns.

In-demand tattoo artist Dr. Woo is delivering his second Converse collaboration. This time, the Los Angeles-based artist has created four pairs of the Chuck 70.

The special feature of these pairs is that they change in appearance over time to reveal a second layer underneath like the popular Lance Mountain x Air Jordan 1 release from 2014.

"The beauty in the breakdown of the shoe is what I wanted to highlight," Dr. Woo told Nike. "The way you receive your shoe is not the end game. It is fully pliable and moldable to however the wearer wants to wear it. Putting your shoe through that is the reward — seeing how it gets beat up."

A black canvas pair can be torn to reveal a Sunset Gold stripes and comes with laces to match the bright bottom layer. The white version can be shredded up to show off a Green Absinthe pattern. Shared details between both pairs include transparent outsoles and Dr. Woo's signature eyes logo on the left toe box. Along with the men's sized pairs will be orange and blue youth options featuring Woo's hand-drawn artwork sans the two-layer construction, as well as a Gore-Tex coaches jacket.

Dr. Woo's "Wear to Tear" collection with Converse will be available on Sept. 6 at converse.com and other select retailers.
