Chicago law enforcement has been accused of parking a "bait truck" loaded with Nike sneakers in underprivileged neighborhoods and arresting residents who attempted to enter the vehicle.

Although details are muddy, videos shared on social media show residents facing off with police over the incident. According to reports, police were nearby lying in wait to arrest those who tried to steal the shoes.

One caption claims the the truck was left near a local basketball court, with several commenters pointing out the obvious racial element of leaving the shoes as bait in predominantly black neighborhoods.

The practice of police using bait vehicles is reportedly common in several high-crime areas throughout the country and is often used to target car thieves.

Sole Collector has reached out to the Chicago Police Department for a statement along with a witness from social media, but neither party has responded.
