After its "Elephant" Air Max 1 made a comeback for 2017's Air Max Day releases, Japanese retailer Atmos kept the retro theme going this year with the return of its popular "Animal Pack," albeit with a few variations from the 2006 original. Unbeknownst to fans at the time, it turns out there's a third iteration of the "Animal" Air Max 1, although this one won't be available to the public.
Atmos designer and creative director Koji took to his Instagram to show off the unreleased pair, which he calls a friends and family exclusive "Animal 3.0" colorway. Overall, the sneaker sticks with the same multi-patterned paneling as the retail version, but swaps out the black pony hair toe for an orange shade more akin to the retailer's "Safari" take on the sneaker.
Unfortunately, this teaser image will have to suffice, as it sounds like there are no plans to bring this pair to stores.
UPDATE (08/28): Following a teaser of a friends and family "Animal Pack" Atmos x Air Max 1 yesterday, the shop's designer and creative director Koji has posted another iteration of the pack's Air Max 95 as well. Similar to the Air Max 1, this exclusive version of the 95 swaps out the black pony hair on certain panels for a burnt orange shade.
