After recently making some noise with its Kiko Kostadinov collection, Asics is following up July's anime-inspired collab with Footpatrol with another exclusive range that taps into the sneaker brand's Japanese background.
Rather than draw from an established anime franchise, Asics teamed up with Foot Locker to create their own "The Sun and The Snake" series starring Luka Sabbat, Princess Nokia, and YFN Lucci. To accompany the five-episode saga, Asics has created a "Welcome to the Dojo" pack made up of the Gel-Lyte 1 and the Gel-Diablo models. The former is covered in a mostly yellow upper with black accents, while the latter takes the opposite approach with yellow accents.
"I’ve always had an affinity for fashion and personal expression, and I think it’s dope that Foot Locker and Asics were able to bring those together in such a lit way for the launch of the ‘Welcome to the Dojo’ pack," Sabbat said.
The trailer for the series can be viewed above, with the first episode set to debut next Tuesday, Aug. 21.
As for the sneakers, they'll be available exclusively from Foot Locker stores including Footaction and Champs on Friday, Aug. 24. The Gel-Lyte 1 will retail for $90, while the Gel-Diablo is priced at $120.
