There may be a little more to the story behind the upcoming "Hyper Royal" colorway of the Air Jordan 1 High.
According to Foot Locker Europe's launch calendar, the new retro is being dubbed "He Got Game," likely in reference to Spike Lee's iconic 1998 film starring Ray Allen.
Though the shoe isn't commonly associated with the movie (how is this happening before a special make-up of the Air Jordan 13?), it could represent Jesus Shuttlesworth's Lincoln High School, a real school located in Brooklyn—the colors sync up with the Railsplitters' scheme.
Whether Jordan Brand will actually put "He Got Game" marketing behind the retro remains to be seen, but it's a nickname that will probably stick if the alternative is simply "Hyper Royal." The new colorway releases on July 7 for $160.
