Adidas is the latest brand to face a cyber attack after an unauthorized party was apparently able to access private customer information.

The breach affects select customers who placed orders on the brand's U.S. website. Adidas says it became aware of the incident on Tuesday, June 26, after which it began an investigation into the hack. The brand says it's now working alongside "leading data security firms and law enforcement authorities" to get to the bottom of it.

While this is cause for concern regardless of the specifics, Adidas says its early findings show that data accessed includes contact details, usernames, and encrypted passwords. Thankfully, payment information and personal fitness records were not obtained by the unauthorized party.

"Adidas understands the importance of your personal information. We take the protection of that information very seriously and we are sorry to have to write to you in these circumstances," the company wrote today in an e-mail to affected customers.

Further inquiries regarding the hack can be directed to customerservice@us.adidas.com.
