This weekend, Adidas will debut its latest Originals silhouette—the P.O.D. System.

The model is inspired by technical runners from the mid-'90s and aims to bring that overall aesthetic to the lifestyle space. The tech seen in the sneaker is inspired by a retro 3D cushioning system called the Point of Deflection System. This system was designed to provide the runner with better shock absorption and stability in the outsole. To achieve this, the podular outsole is made up of different layers and segments.

To mesh this concept with Adidas' current tech, Boost cushioning has been added to the heel to go along with an EVA forefoot, and P.O.D. bridge inspired by Adidas' Torsion system. The debut colorway features a black mesh upper with tonal Three Stripes branding, a blue strap across the midfoot, black and blue heel piece, and neon yellow plastic overlays on the lateral and medial sides of the shoe.

Anyone looking to purchase the Adidas P.O.D. System will get the chance when the model debuts at adidas.com and other select retailers on Saturday, June 16 for $130.
