One of the most beloved non-Bulls Air Jordan colorways is coming back with in limited-edition fashion, with a twist.

According to @py_rates, a "Grape"-like Jordan 5 is slotted for the summer. Using a "White/Grape Ice/Black/New Emerald" colorway, this new makeup will reportedly rearrange the sneaker's accent colors in favor of a black-based midsole and tongue. The resulting look is arguably even more Hornets-esque than its predecessor, although it's likely to elicit mixed reactions from purists.

Adding another layer of intrigue to this colorway is its NRG status, which is reserved for the brand's more limited-edition and significant product.

Look for this Air Jordan 5 NRG to release in July.

UPDATE (08/02): Although July came and went without an appearance of this rumored Air Jordan 5 NRG, new in-hand images of the updated "Grape" colorway are making the rounds. And while it's too early to verify the authenticity of the pair pictured, the shots offer a better idea of what to expect should this retro materialize.

Calling back to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's infatuation with the model and colorway, this NRG update picks up where other "Bel-Air"-style Jordans left off. While the original "Grape" color combination remains largely unchanged, there are a handful of differences that set this version apart from its predecessors.

In addition to OG Nike Air branding on the heel and outsole, this iteration includes a custom insole with Fresh Prince-inspired graphics and "West Philadelphia" text directly underneath the tongue. The biggest update, however, is the lack of shoelaces and eyelets—a nod to the way Will Smith often wore the sneakers in the '90s.

Adding another layer to the upcoming drop is info shared by py_rates which dubs it as an official collaboration with Will Smith. According to the leak account, the collab will include the "Grape" Jordan 5s as well as T-shirts and hoodies featuring an image of Smith in character from the '90s.

A release date for this pair has not been confirmed, but the sneakers are expected to retail for $190.

UPDATE (08/31): According to leaker @zsneakerheadz on Instagram, the "Fresh Prince" Air Jordan 5 NRG is reportedly slated to release on Sept. 25. Along with a potential drop date, new images have been provided that show a closer look at the "Nike Air" branding on the heel, as well as insoles inspired by the wardrobe of Will Smith's iconic character.
