For most sneakerheads, the 14-year wait for the return of Carmelo Anthony's Air Jordan 2 Retro will end on June 9. However, that's not the case for Instagram user MichMan98, who was recently surprised by Nike.
Under the impression that he was unboxing the "Silver Bullet" Nike Air Max 97 he ordered, this lucky (or unlucky?) shopper's package actually contained the aforementioned Jordan retro. From the packaging to general appearance, these shoes don't share many similarities, so it's a glaring mishap by the shipping center. It does, however, give us our first detailed look at this year's release.
These mixups actually happen more often than you think—last Nov., a customer ordered the "RE2PECT" Air Jordan 1 from Eastbay, but was shipped the popular "Bred Toe" colorway early.
Air Jordan 2 Retro "Melo"
Release Date: 06/09/18
Color: White/Varsity Maize-University Blue
Style #: 385475-122
UPDATE (05/24): For the majority of sneakerheads who didn't accidentally receive the shoes early, the "Melo" Air Jordan 2 Retro's official launch is almost here. Celebrating Anthony's 15-season tenure in the NBA, this colorway takes it back to his rookie year with a Denver Nuggets-themed color scheme.
The "Melo" Air Jordan 2 drops Saturday, June 9 for $190 from SNKRS and select Jordan Brand retailers.
