Adidas is gearing up to launch the latest addition to the Boost family, a performance running silhouette dubbed the Solarboost.

Aside from the Boost cushioning in the midsole that has become one of Adidas' crowning achievements, this new runner introduces Tailored Fiber Placement technology. Inspired by NASA engineering, it is a data-driven construction intended to provide the most precise upper possible. It also utilizes Adidas' Parley material woven into the fabric.

Additional technical features include reduced weight compared to past Boost runners, a high energy return, and durability that has been tested in multiple climates and conditions.

"We knew it was time to challenge the status quo of a performance running shoe. To create a lightweight, supportive, and comfortable silhouette for every runner, we took inspiration from the automotive and aerospace industries and discovered Tailored Fiber Placement, a precision manufacturing technology that allowed us to stitch materials together more precisely than ever before," said Chris Ekman, Adidas' senior product manager of Running.

The Adidas Solarboost will debut at adidas.com and other select retailers in men's and women's colorways on May 17 for $160. A global launch will follow on June 1.
